Many freedom activists are engaged in one particular freedom strategy, for example, the Libertarian Party. They may not be aware of all the other strategies being followed by thousands of others. So they may become disillusioned when their particular strategy doesn't seem to be yielding significant results. The more you become involved in a range of freedom-promoting activities, the more you'll appreciate the progress being made on many other fronts.
THREE LEVELS OF FREEDOM:
  1. Basic Freedom (or freedom philosophy) -- spreading freedom ideas; educating people about freedom; trying to "change the system."
  2. Practical Freedom (how to live free in an unfree world) -- withdrawing material support (obedience, information, money) from "the system"; trying to "beat the system."
  3. Advanced Freedom (how to clear from your mind the deepest concepts and thought patterns that give rise to coercive political behavior) -- withdrawing "memetic" support from "the system"; trying to clear the most basic cognitive foundations of "the system" from your mind.

Maybe the biggest obstacle to achieving freedom is that so many freedom activists work at 9-5 jobs to earn a living. Thus the time they have available to spend on promoting freedom tends to be extremely limited. They don't have much time-freedom.
One of the most important kinds of freedom is "time-freedom." Time-freedom means you are free to use your time as you wish. If you're working at a 9-5 job, your time-freedom is greatly reduced.
The political/economic system is designed so that it's very difficult for most people, including the most ardent freedom lovers, to escape from supporting the system. They often don't seem to have better choices than spending many hours a day supporting the corrupt system by working for a company that supports the system -- through obedience, providing information, collecting and paying taxes, etc. On top of which, most freedom activists personally seem to have no better choices than supporting the system through obedience, providing information, paying taxes, etc.
On this Free World Order / BuildFreedom website there are many clues for the resourceful to escape from the dilemma of being ardent, even passionate, freedom lovers who talk freedom, yet work many hours a week as "partial slaves" and financial supporters of the corrupt, coercive political system that enslaves them.
Please don't interpret anything on this page as a criticism of what you or anyone else is doing to promote freedom or liberty. We're not suggesting that anyone abandon what they're doing. We are suggesting that you consider doing some other things as well.
For hundreds of years, some of the greatest human minds have advocated freedom and condemned slavery, yet in most parts of the world, today, most people live their lives to a greater or lesser extent, in one form or another, as partial slaves of terrocrats (coercive political agents or terrorist bureaucrats). If freedom or liberty is good and slavery bad, then why do so many people find themselves restricted, restrained, and oppressed by coercive political chains?
Could it be that there have been weaknesses and missing elements in the strategies and tactics of practically all freedom advocates, promoters, and activists that have enabled the forces of political coercion, control, and oppression to maintain the upper hand?
Consider the possibility that the most important thing for freedom lovers to do is to free themselves -- as far as possible in our unfree world. (One of the functions of this Free World Order / BuildFreedom website is to help you discover what you might want to do to free yourself and to provide you with suggestions, resources, and means to do so.

Now, consider the possibility that the second-most important thing for freedom lovers to do is to discover how to assist others to free themselves and to become more effective at assisting others to free themselves.

The power of tyrants depends largely on the support they receive from their victims. For every freedom lover, we can think in terms of his or her "Liberation Factor" and his or her "Enslavement Factor." The more a freedom lover promotes freedom, the higher his or her Liberation Factor (LF). Suppose a freedom lover works in a typical corporation which collects taxes on behalf of a tyrant-system, obeys the tyrant-system in numerous ways, and provides information on its business and workers to the tyrant-system. Such a corporation is in many ways a tyrant-system agency. Both the corporation and its workers tend to have a high Enslavement Factor (EF) as a measure of the degree to which they support a tyrant-system. (See LibertyVanguard.)
Of course, it's not possible to assign objectively reliable numerical values to someone's Enslavement Factor (EF) and Liberation Factor (LF). Nevertheless, consider the example of a freedom lover who works for a typical US corporation. Suppose he works 40 hours per week, his salary is $1,000 a week, and he pays $400 a week in various taxes. Let's assume that half your work in the corporation supports the tyrant-system and that this time has a value of $25 per hour. 20 x 25 = 500. 500 + 400 = 900. So we could assign our freedom lover an EF of 900.

Suppose our freedom lover spends an hour a week promoting freedom and also donates $25 a week to one or more freedom organizations. So we could assign our freedom lover an LF of 50. This would mean his EF is 18 times his LF. The point of these numbers is to indicate that many ardent freedom lovers may "invest" 10-20 times the time, effort, and money into supporting tyranny compared to the time, effort, and money they invest in promoting freedom. So, how can freedom win over tyranny?
